Intervention & Family Consultation
Return to About Freedom Institute main page.
Intervention is a technique which has proven successful in persuading the alcoholic or drug dependent person and family member to accept help. It is a process through which concerned persons confront the chemically dependent person by relating specific drinking or drugging incidents in order to break through the denial system in place.
Carefully prepared and presented in a non-judgmental and loving manner, this process results in agreement to accept treatment about eighty percent of the time. Even in the few cases when treatment is not accepted, Intervention is never considered a failure. The family and concerned persons have learned about the disease and are now aware that everything possible has been done, thereby removing any burden of guilt and helping with their own recovery. Freedom Institute’s specialists in this technique have been facilitating Interventions for more than thirty years.
