Intensive Outpatient Treatment

Return to About Freedom Institute main page.

Many managed care companies require treatment in an Outpatient setting before covering treatment in an Inpatient setting.

In order to address the increasing demand for primary Outpatient treatment, Freedom Institute began to offer intensive Outpatient groups in the Fall of 1998. Although this is not thought to be the primary treatment modality (Inpatient treatment is considered the optimal first step), many managed care companies were refusing coverage to clients who do not first attempt to achieve sobriety in an Outpatient setting.

Morning and evening groups meet three times a week. Additionally, individual counseling sessions are scheduled on a fourth day. Education, psychodrama and stress management are included in this program designed to offer the client a successful transition from a non-sober life to a sober one. Additionally, each client is encouraged to attend 12-Step meetings regularly. This Outpatient treatment is provided with the supervision of the Institute’s Medical Director.
