For family members of those suffering from addiction, Freedom Institute provides a variety of treatment services, including individual, group, couples and family therapy. Studies show that involvement of a nonalcoholic family member in a treatment program significantly increases participation rates, strengthens sobriety and helps to prevent the relapse of alcoholic family members who are in treatment programs.
By focusing family members on their relational problems through education, on processing of feelings and changing behaviors and explaining issues and obstacles to recovery, they can learn to develop their own program for recovery. Treatment at Freedom Institute has also recently started to utilize the CRAFT (Community Reinforcement and Family Training) model to help motivate substance abusers to seek treatment.
At Freedom Institute, group therapy and family therapy also help family members to develop a support network and attend 12-step recovery meetings to improve their family outcomes and long-term goals. Group therapy is offered for significant others, parents of adolescents, as well as parents of adult children.
Our family services are inclusive of children, adolescents and young adults who have a family member in the program or one whom they are worried about.
