Treat Addiction Like Cancer

The recent The New York Times editorial, Treat Addiction Like Cancer by Laura Hilger, sums it up best: Addiction is a disease and should be treated as such, just as a doctor would treat a patient with cancer.

Trained clinicians in the field of addiction and recovery should treat clients with addiction as if they were doctors treating a patient with cancer or another disease. At Freedom Institute, we agree and we do just that. Our highly trained and experienced clinicians assess each client who comes to us and we design a specific protocol to aid and support that client through early sobriety and long-term recovery.

Freedom Institute offers a range of treatment programs to meet the complex needs of each individual and every age group and stage of life and stage of recovery.  We understand that recovery is not a one-size-fits-all disease, so each client’s comprehensive program combines various evidence-based practices and/or Twelve Step programs, DBT, psychodrama, group therapy, individual therapy, even referrals to inpatient services if needed.

Our protocol for recovery is whatever is needed to help every client and their family heal.

“The millions of people still suffering from addiction, and those in recovery, deserve the same level of gold-standard care that a cancer patient receives.”
