Alex is currently serving as a Senior Advisor to both Freedom Institute .With his extensive experience in clinical leadership positions and institutional knowledge of both programs Alex is in a unique position to advise the leadership of Freedom Institute.

Alex started his career at Freedom as a staff therapist treating individuals, families, and leading groups. He was a founding member of the DBT team helping to create and implement DBT into the clinical programming at Freedom Institute. Alex was apppointed Associate Clinical Director and then served as Clinical Director of Freedom Institute from 2016-2020.

In January of 2020 Alex transitioned into the role of Vice President of Clinical Strategy and Business Development. One of the primary projects that he worked on in this role was the creation of and partnership with Veritus. Alex helped to design and launch the clinical program for Veritus and as a member of its founding team, he served as Chief Clinical Officer.

In addition to Alex's current role as Senior Advisor he is a Psychotherapist in private practice specializing in treating individuals, families and professionals struggling with substance use disorder and other mental illnesses.

Alex holds a Masters degree from New York University and has received intensive training in DBT and advanced practices in DBT from Marsha Linehan at Behavioral Tech. He has received training in CBT from the Beck Institute, completed the Foundations in Family Therapy Program at The Ackerman Institute for The Family, and has completed training in advanced practices for Motivational Interviewing from MINT. Alex also has completed training at Bellevue hospital and at FEGS working with adults with both chronic mental illness and addiction. He has worked with adults, adolescents, and children at the Brooklyn Center for Psychotherapy and on a research team at New York University conducting HIV and substance use research.
