Joined Freedom in 2007
Therapist, Intervention Specialist

After receiving her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Columbia University, Barbara started in the mental health field working with children, adolescents and adults. Over time, she developed a professional interest in the impact of disease on the psychological well-being of those who are ill, as well as how their illness would change the dynamics in their families.

At Freedom Institute, Barbara specializes in work with adults with substance abuse issues who are considering sobriety or who want help staying sober. She also works with family members and friends who hope to get their loved ones into treatment by way of Intervention.

“What I most appreciate about Freedom, in addition to working among a first rate staff, is the open and inclusive philosophy here. We offer services to anyone willing to consider sobriety, no matter where they are in their decision process to change, and we work collaboratively to include family and significant others in the healing process.”
